With the help of STEINERT dreams of seriously ill children come true

This year, STEINERT has again been collecting for the Cologne-based charity “wünschdirwas”, which makes wishes come true for seriously ill children and young people. The donation will go towards unforgettable experiences that will help the children and young people forget about their illness for a short time.

Having already held collections and made donations to various charitable organisations for a number of years, STEINERT came across wünschdirwas in 2016. Every year since then, Hermann Frerich, the Chairman of the Works Council, has worked his way through the sorting specialist’s offices and production areas to collect donations for this good cause. In just two days, he collected €1500, which was then doubled by STEINERT. In the words of Dr Habich, Technical Director at STEINERT GmbH: “This special charity is very local to us and means a lot to us – so we are happy to support it.”

Mr Frerich enthuses about the many wishes that wünschdirwas has already made possible. These include Benedikt the truck fan, who wanted to spend a day with commercial-vehicle manufacturer MAN. On that day, he got answers to all his questions, was able to work on engines using virtual reality and, at the end of the day, even got to steer a tractor on the company test track.

Since the charity was established 30 years ago, it has made more than 8000 wishes come true. The charity works with doctors and therapists from more than 100 hospitals, children’s clinics and hospices across the country and helps to organise clinic parties and furnish play rooms and waiting rooms.
Since 2009, wünschdirwas has also offered the families of sick children a chance to recuperate and enjoy a change of scenery in a holiday home on the North Sea coast, which is financed solely from donations.

This year, STEINERT is again stepping up to the plate as a donor – as dreams don’t come true of their own accord.
