Separate non-ferrous metals from fine grains using the STEINERT EddyC FINES

Precise sorting of fines grains with the STEINERT EddyC FINES non-ferrous metal separator thanks to its new separating splitter

The design of our new STEINERT EddyC combines things that have been tried and tested with innovation in the separation of non-ferrous metals. STEINERT also continues to rely on the established eccentrically mounted magnetic pole system with powerful neodymium-iron-boron magnets and robust construction of all machine elements in its eddy current separators.
The core features of the new STEINERT EddyC model series are a self-supporting frame construction allowing faster belt replacement, variable adjustment of the pole system's application point, optimised accessibility to and overview of the separation area and a fundamentally revised external design.
The conveyor belt can be replaced in just 10 minutes due to the self-supporting, C-shaped design. Further advantages: an additional hoist is no longer required and the machine side for belt replacement can be chose at will when ordering.

The equipment features specifically developed for the fine grain range distinguish our STEINERT EddyC FINES eddy current separator. We have used a so-called fine pole system in this type, since above all it is the alternating pole frequency that is important for inducing eddy-currents in small particle sizes. This enables high-frequency changes in polarity at up to 1.3 kHz with a pole system rotation speed of up to 4,000 rpm.

We have also developed a new splitter blade for highly precise adaptation to fine-grained sortable material. Exact adjustment of the splitter plate allows recovery of non-ferrous metals from even particularly fine residues down to a grain size of 0.5 mm. The splitter blade can thereby be adjusted horizontally and vertically at the same time. This makes it possible to position the splitter very high and near to the discharge point. A high splitter is particularly necessary in the fine grain range, since fine particles are slowed down considerably by the prevailing air resistance in the discharge, which greatly reduces their flight parabolas. The splitter can be moved millimetre-precise over several axes and more accurate adjustment of the discharge parabolas to different materials. This increases the accuracy of separation that is especially necessary in the fine grain range.

The prerequisite for an optimal separation result is that the ratio of upper to lower grain size in the feed material does not exceed a value of 3. We have developed an alternative splitter variant for wet material like fine-grained WI bottom ash. This significantly reduces caking and build-up of material on the splitter blade. It is also possible to use different belt scrapers and thus increase operational reliability, even with difficult material.
